Mercedes warns of possible German plant closures
The warning concerns two plants if cost reductions cannot be agreed.
Mercedes-Benz confirmed production chief Michael Schiebe’s warning on 22 September: without cost reductions, one German assembly plant and one powertrain plant could face closure. No locations were identified.
This is a conditional warning, not a decision to close two factories. The central works council announced its opposition and said nothing had yet been negotiated or decided.
